Like the title says, all Linux devices show up Net-SNMP rather than linux for the vendor.
There should be a way to list these servers as the correct vendor.
You might be right, maybe they should be able to, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't have had it been simple. Leon wrote a shell script that will help:osname.sh osname.sh

We have decided not to use shell scripts via SSH because it spams the history and last logins.
NET-SNMP is not Linux specific. There are a wide variety of different operating systems that NET-SNMP can be used on, such as Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX.
You can also configure Net-SNMP to return another SysOID value.
