Allow Query Tools to log a matrix of data
Query tools such as the "SQL Server User Experience Monitor" and the "ODBC User Experience Monitor" have been severely limited, presumably to make the results of any query conform to the Orion database schema.
Limited to just one numerical statistic, one message and one row - this makes the monitors very difficult to use (querying each row separately) or makes the data very limited (only a count of returned results).
Instead of solely treating the query tool as a performance tool, a significant value could be added to SAM in the database schema were updated along with these component monitor types to allow a matrix of data to be logged. This would be invaluable for large organizations to provide a central location to pull basic data using queries - providing that data for display or for consumption in a report.
Not all data needs to be a number to be alerted on and graphed over time.
