I have a desire to use SEM to standardize across the entire company using SEM for RMF and other compliance requirements including CUI to help cover 800-53 security controls. We need a way I can buy say 5000 nodes of SEM and have ability where I can divide it up for use on smaller networks. The appliance would work great even on smaller network with even 10 or less nodes but with a minimum size 100 node license this just isn't workable. Myself and many like me need this licensing feature. This would guarantee Solarwinds much in new sales and repeat business because once we all standardize on SEM for all our IS's it will be plenty of repeat business to maintain our SEM monitored networks. One of the requirements for RMF is that software has to be supported to this guarantees SolarWinds current support for all of the nodes year to year.
This is not really a request but it's becoming a requirement if we want to use SEM for our information systems. Otherwise we'll have to continue or find some other solution. Something like Kiwi systlog can kind of suffice but it's not good. We need SEM for our smaller networks and SolarWinds should be able to find a way that we can pay for this.
If you too are in this situation and need a more flexible SEM licensing model please VOTE UP this feature request. This would be a WIN/WIN for us and many other companies and BIG WIN for SolarWinds in new business.
