Configure specific Child elements from impacting the status of Parent node

What is the main goal of the feature?

To prevent selected child elements from impacting the status of the parent node.

Use Case

Example: A Catalyst 4510 chassis has 384 copper interfaces, disabling status monitoring from specific interfaces would prevent the overriding node changing to a ‘Warning’ state when someone turns off a PC etc.

an option to choose which entities would affect the roll-up status might be nice. I would consider this a hybrid between the Enhanced and Classic Node Status Calculation. It could be useful in some cases but might end up giving us another 'Management' Page to set those details. You have my vote for this enhancement, but to tackle your scenario and possibly a few more...

For this specific example, I would use the 'display Interface as unplugged rather than down.' option on the edit interface page. Keep the statistics for the interface, but it does not go 'Down' just because someone took their laptop to a meeting or powered down at the EOD.

For Hardware Health entities, I usually end up either changing the MIB used or disable to undesired HWH entities.

2 Additional Notes here. First Off, if you do a list resources on the Node expand the interfaces desired and uncheck the status option, maintaining the statistics for said interfaces.

Second, 2020.2 has specific options that can be adjusted to set what 'child entities' on the node can affect the overall status of the node.

to get to those options;

Click Settings > All Settings and scroll down to Thresholds & Polling.
Click Node Child Status Participation.
Review the list of components that can influence the node status. Available items depend on the Orion Platform products you have installed.
Enable items to be included in node status calculation.
