My preference would be that following a discovery, only those node interfaces running a link discovery protocol (CDP or LLDP) be managed. All others interfaces would default to 'unmanged' state unless selectively managed. Our use of NPM is primary network monitoring, and we're not so concerned with all the interfaces connecting end-user workstations on our switches. It's a very difficult task to go back and unmanage all the non-connector type interfaces, and makes it difficult to regularly re-discover on nodes to detect interface changes.
