The Ability to Rename and Move a Node while keeping Historical Records.
We had to move some nodes, and rename some that were in our virtualisation setup. One server was physically moved to another datacentre and renamed (but remained part of the same vcenter), another renamed and put into a vcenter cluster (previously standalone). The nodes were reporting with their old names in certain places in the console, such as in the virtualization overview page. The VM’s running on these servers were not being reported on correctly.
We had to completely remove the Old node, and re-add the node with its new name. Therefore losing its old historical data.
The ability to rescan a node, to pick up its new setup, hostname, IP even .... while being able to link it to its previous incantation. Therefore keeping its historical data.
