Orion Maps - Better Multiple Link Calculation

Hi Team,

I have noticed that Orion Maps is not behaving accordingly when devices are connected with two links (or more) at the same time.

In my opinion, when I want to know the network BPS traffic between two devices, I need to see a SUM from all of my physical interfaces, which are connected.

Currently it seems that Orion Maps is choosing only one of them (only one link), when it is displaying statistics for a connection on the map.

For anyone interested in SUM calculations (BPS) and AVG (% utilization) for multiple links between devices, I have created SWQL query (for Custom Query widgets), which is joining Topology and Interfaces tables.

It is still work in progress, so if you would find some errors, please let me know.

@kpmarcin - this is currently by design. We do not perform this operation natively which is probably a similar reason as to why you are creating a custom SWQL query in your table example. I might suggest changing the title to this FR to reflect what you are hoping for and perhaps add some additional feedback if you can.

Are you looking for the metric pill on the canvas to represent the SUM of all traffic across multiple connections only, or were you also looking to see this within the properties panel when selected? When an issue occurs, what are you wanting or expecting to see in both areas? Can you also share your use cases on why this is important?

I tried to modify the feature request title, but I do not see an option. It seems that once someone voted for the idea, it cannot be edited?

I was thinking to have this option in the view mode for Orion Maps (canvas).

In the properties panel (when I click on link) I can see all interfaces between two devices, so I can analyze them individually (no need for SUM or AVG).

Yes. In this environment, all core devices have at least two connections to the network. This is done mostly for redundancy purpose.
However there are few devices with aggregated links, in order to achieve higher speeds like 400 Gbit/s.

NMP is correctly discovering the topology with multiple links, so this is working fine.
Regarding Orion Maps, there are two use cases for me:

Ability to see on the map, if any of the redundant interface is down. Maybe using a Warning status?
Ability to see SUM of BPS traffic and AVG of the utilization on the map, because we are using multiple links (aggregated) to achieve higher speeds. So in practice, the device from the screenshot is not limited to 100 Gbit/s, but can use both links to achieve 200 Gbit/s. If first link would have around 90% utilization and second one would have 10%, Orion Maps would still show it as 90% (but I still have much more bandwidth to use and this should not be a concern).
