There should be a command, that can be scheduled to run unattested in order to export the users/group configuration to a file for backup purposes.
With this you can create a schedule (i.e. cron) to export in daily basis the users/groups configuration in a file and back it up.
This will be more helpful instead the export button from the web interface.
