User Templates

I would like the ability to create a template for an Orion user and copy it or apply all its properties to a selected group of current users. We add a lot of users into Orion, all with the same properties and none of them should have a lot of access to Orion. Invariably, someone always gets created with the wrong view or one too many permissions, which is a security risk on our server.

This is another example of how Solarwinds does things one way in a product but a different way in another. NCM has a similar concept of roles where each role has a given set of permissions. I thoroughly support the use of these templates or roles in the entire suite of products.

I couldn't agree more, the ability to create a template and then just copy it, rename it and make slight modifications would be huge.

I feel like the whole account management piece could use an overhaul. For example, when you are setting the properties for the account and you set a limitation, all of your previous changes are lost unless you have saved (which takes you back out to the account list). A Save and Continue button would be nice here.

This is a good idea, we use AD groups for most users but I have group that needs the same set of permissions and views but also are limited by one different custom property for each user. It would be nice to select a template, and be able to change one thing on set up.

If all of your users should have the same level of access, you can make them all members of the same AD group & then you'll only have to create a single AD Integrated Orion user. They would share views, menus, limitations etc, but its simple and quick. Best to make them low level users though or you risk ending up with an ever expanding group of administrators.

Seeing as how this is a 7 y/o post with barely any traction, I doubt my vote matters. However, this is pretty huge as an admin for an MSP that provides web access to clients but has to limit their views to only their hosted devices. This, in turn, means that each client of ours that needs an account created is a tedious manual process. Surely someone has figured out a better way to do this.
