I would like to be able to turn of the Customer Portal Menu on my offline networks. Since the server will not be able to communicate with my portal account, I would enjoy the extra space.
I think that this is an excellent suggestion for your situation (and others like yours).
Good idea, I'm all for supporting a FR that adds to tailoring opportunities!
Perhaps UX could add in a check that the website makes when you click 'settings'. If the website host server cannot reach solarwinds.com, then that part of the page is not loaded?
That seems like such a sensible thing to do. Either an on/off toggle or an intelligent "If I can't reach it, don't display it". A bit like it is with the regular widgets. If there's nothing to see, don't show the widget.
I need this too... I'll never have any of that work on some of my networks either for the same reason as CourtesyIT!!!
This makes sense. I can see that sometime the real estate is just too important and that's not information that you need to look at all that often.
Didn't you have red car before? Did you trade up?
Worse, I have unpredictable browser spacing when I link to my Customer Portal. Most of the time, the Portal takes over the right 2/3 of my screen, leaving my SW Main Setting & Admin page with just the left 1/3 of my screen. Sometimes they're split 50:50, sometimes the Portal section is only the right-hand third of the screen.
It seems to behave erratically, and isn't browser-dependent. I like having the portal linked to my SW view, but I sure don't like it taking over all the screen real estate!
I agree and like Eric for some of us it'll never display anything relevant.
