Enable a monitoring policy object that can be applied or assigned. Assignment could be to a particular object or a group. A monitoring policy object could be exported and imported between instances of NPM.
More details:
- The monitoring policy would contain all the threshold settings for a particular device type.
- Monitoring Policy Object would be similar to the SAM/APM Monitoring Template in configuration and assignment.
- Overrides in the "edit node" would override the Policy, not a default setting.
- Monitoring Policy Objects would be available for primary device types, interfaces, volumes, etc.
- Multiple Multiple Monitoring Policy Objects could be applied to a single node, and where there are conflicts in settings, a priority order would affect the applied thresholds.
- Future enhancements could include conditional settings applied, for instance, when a server with multiple cores (say 16) has 4 cores in critical status, the alerting threshold for CPU utilization could be adjusted
