Network Teams get great mileage from NPM, NCM, NTA, Kiwi, and the Engineer's Tool Set.
But other Teams within the same organization may not use the other Orion tools to improve their lives.
I'd love a list of ways your organization has helped break through the silo walls and used Orion's suite of application to extend horizontally into other realms.
SW could create a tool, a link, a place-to-go for this--one that allows folks with one silo's specific expertise to share how they brought others to see the Orion light:
- What did you use to get Patch Manager adopted in your organization?
- What tipped the scales to get SAM adopted by your SysAdmins?
- How did you get support for making DPA available for your DBA's--AND how did you get them to adopt it over their original tools?
- If your Security Team uses FSM and UDT, what opportunities were made available to them to use & love these two?
- SAN folks can live in a pretty isolated and specialized world; when do you SAN people find SRM is the right tool for the job?
- Telecom's another bunch of folks that exist in a silo. Do you use VNQM? What was the final thing that made it right for your team?
- Web & Apps Admins would LOVE to see WPM, wouldn't they? How did you get your company to believe in it?
- Is Mobile Admin still a going concern? If you use it, what makes you happiest you got it?
Once these are in a single place that we all can share and see, we can go out and start knocking on doors, e-mailing, downloading test versions--with the goal of having a horizontally enabled team of folks that know more about other areas, and who share information about their systems. The final result is a much more unified IT department, and a business that works more efficiently and happily.
And we can be satisfied to have instigated the move down a path towards a better IT world.
Sound good to you?
