Need to get user id of a process id

I am very new to working with Solar Winds. We are running a client server application. The clients run on one box and the server on another. When the client box gets busy we can drill down to see which process ftpte.exe via SNMP is hogging the box and get the process id. However when there are many copies running we need to get the user id so we know who is running the runaway query. Is there a way to go beyond process id to get the user id? I am not sure if you are referring to a Windows or Unix environment.

After a bit of research it appears Windows does not provide the user ID via SNMP for running processes.

We could certainly obtain this via a script in our Application Performance Monitor module though.

Are you specifically looking to obtain this data via SNMP?

The client server is Windows and we are using SNMP. Can the user id be obtained and displayed in Solar Winds? If you could provide the script and where it should run that would be great - I can pass it on to our Solar Winds administrator. Thanks.

I don't have a specific script I can provide, but I found on MSDN the WMI method needed to be queried

In considering how best to resolve this particular issue if you use APM to monitor the executable on the target machine, we will return every instance with it's process ID by default.

You could set an alert with an alert action to execute the necessary script to pull the User ID and include it in an e-mail.
