Idea Summary
By default, standard-process Linux product installation results in ALL 'Linux' OS devices, whether are or intended to be a Workstation or a Server, automatically get set and defined as a Server (and cannot be altered during the installation process).
As such, for Workstations, they (the devices) will always be stored within the Solarwind's Server Tab, by default, due to Solarwind's own product limitation and CANNOT be changed, moved or modified in any way.
Allow the change, allow the alteration of categorised device types. THIS IS MY SUGGESTION.
Otherwise...
The following issues are created:
- Issues with asset management.
- issues with asset audits.
- Issues with asset traceability.
- Issues with policy(s) covering Servers vs Workstations.
- Lack of trust/confidence in kept records.
- Lack of trust/confidence in the product.
Upvote this, let's make this happen.
