Message Center crashing because too many records?

This issue is been happening for a long time, and I thought it would be fix with NPM 12, but still.

When I click on Message Center menu option, I get the "Unexpected Website Error" screen. I noticed the error occurs when I select the option to show "Traps" from the "Filter Messages" section.

As detailed in this thwack thread, I truncated the traps table, and it works. However, is not right been truncating tables and loosing messages just because...

My retention setting are just 3 days. How much less would be for this not to crash?

I think this issue has to be fix for once.

The issue may not at all be related to the number of Syslog messages. it sounds more likely it could be caused by a device sending malformed, corrupted or messages otherwise containing characters or structures not supported by the Syslog RFC.

I have seen something similar when my database needed more resources. Adding 2 more vCPU and 4 GB Ram to the SQL server stopped, I had the luxury of seeing the waits in DPA, but just slowness in the message center reminds me to take a look at my performance stats.
