I'm not sure how many of you out there have additional pollers, but they can be a real PITA sometimes. You start getting alerts that a poller has not synchronized and then what? Yeah, of course you can go in and start tinkering with the services turning them on and off, but why not some sort of actual control here? Why not have a button, or control panel to attempt a force synch with specific pollers, either to or from that poller? I mean, even Microsoft can do that.
I know, I know, "Just go in and make it yourself".... Why though? Shouldn't this be already built into SolarWinds? I kinda have other things to do and this isn't an open source project.
Can we get some sort of interface showing the specifics of the various additional pollers and web servers? Some button or set of buttons and dials to say, "Hey, force a synch with this specific poller NOW and show me what the heck is going on"
Is it not communicating with the database server?
Is it not communicating with the main poller?
Is there congestion on the circuit between the two?
Is there a problem on one of the servers (additional poller, main poller, db server) that is causing this?
If only there were a product out there that could look at all of these things and give me a simple, easy picture of what is happening in the background. Something that would give me some control to fix the problem without wasting time.
To me... It would seem that if you install an additional poller, or additional web server, it would have a little bit more of a special relationship with the main poller in SolarWinds environment and all of this special monitoring, polling, health checks, etc would simply exist.
I mean, they COST extra. Why not some extra love and attention?
