IPAM & solarwinds Orion integration, automatic updating from network

Hi,

aim : to have IPAM database updated automatically in networks, where customer do not use DNS/DHCP

how:

IPAM will fetch/update all defined subnets from all NPM integrated routers.

IPAM will fetch/update all details ( vlan , interfaces, description etc )

IPAM will fill addresses (curently importing subnets require also to add addresses to subnets)

IPAM will allow all ip to be confirmed as used via arp table fetched from relevant router. IPAM will store mac address for each ip

please support me for this feature, because it is really pain to import all data in. ( not talking about to have updated database )

Today IPAM can discover the subnets. But I agree the ability to see the layer 3 swithes and pull descriptions would be awesome, although maybe a bit difficult.

Now the third one is one that I am about to create a feature for. Imported subnets should automatically populate under the supernet that they would belong to based on thier CIDR

Full support. I actually opened our own feature request too that is some what similar to yours. We have an old environment and a new environment. Two separate systems basically. We thought it was as easy as pressing export than import and we get a mirror image on our new environment...Man did we get a rude awaking. Turns out we had to input one by one the entire hierarchy into the new system. We tried the export and import feature available but that never worked with way to many errors coming up. And then support could only tell us to come here and up vote ipam feature requests. I went a whole week on energy drinks and lack of sleep to input years worth of data in a few days to meet deadlines in place.

Right now personally I hate IPAM. But hoping for a miracles with the feature requests on here. Feel free to support mine as well if you want.

Hi Solarwinds Team,

Is the above mentioned feature request up & running. I'm really looking into ability for IPAM to import Arp Table entry from NPM network devices.

So in this way, we can have Mac/IP information readily available. Especially for IPAM Admins whom are not having DHCP/DNS integration.

Just a feature to periodically import the ARP table will help especially on networks where ICMP reach-ability / route is not allowed.

We're using Solarwinds Suite of products for many years now , would be good if the feature has been mada available.

Yes, I'm also looking for something very similar. If data could be shared between various modules to keep SolarWinds from having to poll for the same data multiple times. Seems like the data you are looking for exists, you just need IPAM to take advantage of it.
