Replication Performance Monitoring

I would like to see some sort of monitoring and historical views of replication performance. I currently have a custom process that captures data from the Distribution database (MSlogreader_history and MSdistribution_history) and saves the information to a separate database. From there I import the data into Excel for my analysis and custom graphs. I am sure there is much more information that can be gathered, but I will start with a high level view for now.

For those of you that are interested in this functionality, I am curious what you do today for your replication performance, if anything?

For transactional replication, I use a tracer token sent every few minutes and check the token history to see how long it took. eg.

I would really like to see an alert for a subscription failure. We have a cross-agency subscription that fails frequently and the publisher is mostly inattentive.

Joel, how do you currently monitor this? Do you run a query, and if so could you share it here? We could turn that into a custom alert within DPA and extend the product functionality.
