When node is DOWN often I use Custom Properties to make notes of the reason it is down, etc.
From Node page > Management Resource > Edit Node > Scroll Down > Update existing fields > click SUBMIT

When applying changes it takes a while to do so:

This is by design, as SW is checking connection is alive, ping is present, WMI or SNMP is responding, etc
After some time I get a warning:

I click OK here, as I am aware that node is not accessible due to being down.
Feature Request:
It would be really useful to have a logic to bypass validation test when node is down. This way the whole process will work faster. If node is down - why would we still try to validate anything on it?

P.S.
aLTeReGo ! has suggested here When Modifying Custom Properties For Offline Nodes - Submission Takes Long Time that it can be done through settings, where node status will not be validated. I agree, this is possibility, but it takes a number of clickes to get there, which is kind of still doesn't meet the idea of making the process faster. And, it is much easier to do it directly from node settings anyway, as usually problematic node will pop-up in alerts, on dashboard, reports or somewhere else and will have direct link for faster access
Thanks,
