Cannot assign credentials with certificate from Certificate Credentials Library during template assigning to the nodes \ groups.
Only credentials with passwords available in drop-down list for assignment (see attached screenshot). Credentials with certificates are not exists in this list.

Try using the "Inherit credential from node" option. Let me know if this works.
This is wrong approach to assign credentials for different instances with different credentials.
And what you proposed me - it is just a workaround
Nevertheless, there is a way to assign credentials with password and there is no way to assign credential with key.
I insist - this is a "functional" bug, imperfection.
