Case 876646 has been opened on 10/02/15 for this feature request.
What we’re looking for is to more easily manage multi-tenant views. With the available options in SolarWinds today, it’s a lot of work to create custom toolbars for each group, create or clone views, assign them to the toolbars, and maintain potentially hundreds of different views. This results in a lot of administrative overhead trying to maintain and does not scale well at all.
What we’d like to see:
- When a group is created, it automatically has its own toolbars
- When a group is created, it automatically has its own views
- Those views that belong to a group would be the only views they can manage, if that privilege is granted (i.e. Customize Views = Yes)
- Managing Views might be expanded here to include the ability to have a subgroup (or sub-list of users) for that group that can be granted privileges to customize views, whereas all other members of this group do not.
- It may be best that this feature is an option when creating a new group; some companies may not want/need this, or in our case, we might only need to do this for certain groups
I guess we're really talking about creating separate domains within a single SolarWinds system, which could likely be a really big deal and tons of development work. However, any enhancements to the current model that would make it easier to manage views for different groups would be really helpful. The current ability to grant varying levels of access (i.e. node mgmt & ncm) are already straightforward and easy to manage. Plus the ability to restrict groups of nodes, also easy. It's the views that present a real challenge for us.
