MAC-based DHCP

I was originally promised IPAM already had this feature but, surprise, sales lied. Shocking, I know.

So here it is. Prevent folks from plugging into a subnet and automatically retrieving an IP, UNLESS their MAC address was previously registered. If it was, they'll get the pre-defined IP address. This allows one to set DHCP on all hosts that have had their MAC addresses registered. It will make things exponentially easier vs having to configure each individual machine's IP information. And, it will secure the subnet from rogue hosts trying to gain access to the hosts.

I don't represent solarwinds so this is by no means a definitive response.

It seems like you are looking for a Network Access Control solution, not an ip address management solution. I don't know what solarwinds promised you, nor do I know where they are taking the product, but it seems like NAC features would be a far stretch.

If you are interested in NAC, I would be happy to discuss, just let me know. I just ripped and replaced a Cisco NAC with a Forescout NAC. I'm a very happy camper now
