Within the ADD NODE process, at the last part of it, SolarWinds allows you to supply values to custom properties.
We've created a node custom property called 'NodeLevel_AlertRecipient_ToField' and enforced it to be a required field via the Manage Custom properties page.
This node custom property is the one that we intend to use in the TO field of any node alerts by utilizing alert macros.
While it is good to have the option to enforce & require people to key in a value for this node custom property, oftentimes, the value being keyed in is not a full email address.
The values being entered are just the name of the team like 'Server team', 'network team', or 'storage team'.
This is the case even if they can see the description I've put in for that node custom property. The description says, "Please enter a full email address, not just the team name or the Distro name."
So, I'm hoping that it will become possible for SolarWinds to evaluate the value within a custom property and validate if it contains data that's in a valid email address format or not.
