The next gen ASAs use .SPA files. It would be good for the repository to support this. We can upgrade devices using .bin extensions but not .SPA. I've tested and firewalls with .bin images can be upgraded too.
It doesn't support Cisco Wireless controller image .aes file and SG-500 switches image .ros as well.
Sometimes changing the Firmware Repository Search Pattern works.... It has worked for me just about 2 times with the wildcard as suggested below and restarting services.

It is Unclear if this is resolved in NCM 8.0 I am un sure what the hold up is from Solarwinds it is as if they are not stay abrest of the Cisco file type release.
