Search nodes by serialnumber

I think searching nodes in the Orion platform by serialnumber is an important feature.

In case you want to review the data of a switch/router in Orion without knowing the hostname or the IP address of the device, you can not find the device.

But Orion is able to read and save the serialnumber of network devices (at least Cisco) in the NPM, so the implementation of an additional search filter should not take too much effort, eh?

Until the devs get around to adding a resource to do this you can always roll your own.

Add a custom query resource to the view where you want the search and try this query:

SELECT n.Caption, n.IP, n.Vendor, n.MachineType, cc.ChassisName, cc.ChassisSerialNumberString, ep.EntityName, ep.Serial

from orion.Nodes n

left join ncm.nodes ncm on ncm.corenodeid=n.nodeid

left join ncm.CiscoChassis cc on cc.NodeID=ncm.NodeID

left join NCM.EntityPhysical ep on ep.nodeid=ncm.NodeID and ep.serial is not null and ep.serial not like ''

where n.vendor='cisco'

Check the box to enable search and paste in the same query, just remove the comment marks from the last line.
