Occasionally all ports on a switch may be patched--we have 50,000+ patched switch ports--but there's enough remodeling and staff and equipment churn that it's possible scores (hundreds?) of ports may no longer have devices attached to them at the far side.
I knew how to display this information in NCM 7.3 and earlier by going to the application on the server. I'm not finding a place to show this in NCM 7.4's Web UI.
I'd like a button, a report, a tab--a place to go that creates this information in a report.
Better still, I'd like that information displayed as an option to select on the NPM or NCM page for each node.
Then I could just click on that resource and sort by the column for "Last time data was transmitted or received" and see which ports have been active for the longest time.
Maybe this is already present in NCM 7.4? If so, I simply don't know how to access it.
If it IS present, please tell me how to access it.
But if it's NOT present, consider this a feature request, both for a real-time (if not real-time via an immediate snmp poll of the device, then at least current as of the last inventory of the device) view associated with each node, and also for an enterprise-wide report of the status of ports that have been down the longest time.
That'll save us tens of thousands of dollars quickly, and even more in the long term.
