I recently discovered that SRM Resources can only have View/Account Limitations applied to them at the Storage Array level. That doesn't seem granular enough for most uses that I can imagine. For example, I recently had a client who wanted a view limited to all of the monitored elements for a large application in their company. We created a Group with all of the Nodes, Application Monitors, and NAS Volumes dedicated to that application and limited a view to that. When we threw a bunch of SRM Resources on there they still displayed every storage element in their environment. Limiting the View to the entire Array wouldn't have been helpful in this situation.
I propose that SRM Resources have the ability to be limited to all element types in SRM. Arrays, NAS Volumes, Pools, etc... We can already create custom properties for all of these object types which gives us the ability to easily organize these, but having to then create a custom table, chart, or query resource any time we want to display that data on a view is quite tedious. I also would like the ability to filter SRM resources with a SWQL query like most other resources in Orion allow. I'll write up a separate FR for that since its a little bit different.
