Hi All,
While I love the new functionality in NTA that means I can retain data at shorter intervals for longer periods, the catch is that the GUI doesn't actually allow for configuring the interval that you see. This functionality affects CBQOS and NetFlow in NTA. For example:
- When you view less than 4 hours of data, it will show it in 1 minute intervals
- When you view less than 24 hours of data, it will show it in 15 minute intervals
- When you view greater than 24 hours of data, it will show it in 1 hour intervals
This severely hampers the ability to troubleshoot problems retrospectively, although I note that you can drill in at 1 minute intervals for the whole period, as long as you're only looking at (max) 4 hours of data, and you know where to look / the averages haven't been tapered off too much.
This feature if implimented would deliver the following benefits:
- Enabling more accurate monthly capacity planning activities based on traffic usage patterns (e.g. what's going over interfaces via QoS or Flows) rather than just "an interface was busy"
- Providing technical teams the ability to quickly find peak events and then analyse
- Enabling more effective planning activities
- Clearly articulating in views the interval that is being show so that people can understand the implications - right now, it's not visible until you hover the mouse of the graph
Support Case: Case #572322 - "Feature Request: Allow alteration of data interval in CBQoS
