For application and business views, SolarWinds provides Application Dependency Mapping (ADM) and Orion Maps, but it still relies heavily on manual definitions and has limited context.
What we are looking for :
- Auto-discovered service maps based on agent telemetry and traffic analysis.
- Real-time topology, integrating dependencies across apps, DBs.
- Business transaction views, tracking how services impact customer workflows.
- Built-in alerting and visualization, with minimal setup.
- Application dependency mapping are formed on basis of TCP connections and process-level data, but not how applications interact from a functional or transactional standpoint.
- Application dependency mapping requires agent installation, manual tuning. But contrary the SAM templates for DBs like SQL, Oracle can not be applied on basis of agent to the databases running in cluster. They will need to be applied on listener ips which wont be monitored on agent basis.
