Cisco ACS servers are a typical, non-generic access method for authenticating access to devices.
A common setup is for the Active Directory account to be used if the device can see the ACS, while the local device account is unable to be used. However, if the ACS is unavailable, for whatever reason, the local account is the only way to be authenticated.
At present there is only the option for a single global username setting. So if the ACS is unavailable NCM will fail to access the devices to read or write configs. This could cause a serious issue if a config failed to be backed up on a schedule and was later required.
NCM should have a primary and secondary global username setting so that the effectiveness of NCM is not reliant upon the condition of the ACS.
