I would love to be able to change the refresh rate to 1 minute for some views that are more "real-time" and lower the refresh rate on other views that are just global status updates.
Yes! Node Details pages and others where I select a lot of check boxes drive me nuts when it refreshes and clears all of my actions <insert frustration />.
Desperately need this. <replicate frustration/>
I used Firefox and the Reload Every Plugin. Not sure if this will help?
This on different view ID's would be great, but I would like to see it based on Account/Group Accounts as well.
My use case is for a view of "Nodes with Problems" for my NOC without setting the global refresh speed to be so low that i makes using web reports a unusable browser/PC waiting to happen.
This feature could be set at the manage view screen and simply override the global refresh rate for that view.
Also would help with the frustration that I share with cmgurley.
I like this idea, having different page refresh rates based on what the page is could be very useful. Of course so is any addition to the customization.
I agree, user/group based and/or view based.... heck, I'll take anything!!
I'm in on this too.
Being able to set page refresh rates is a very nice thing...
Possibly at the account/group level as well.
I also concur on the <insert frustration> issue as well.
I know we all have been typing in something and the page refreshes and now we are back at the top of the page and everything we typed in is gone.
It slows down your day and tends to put you into the groundhog Monday loop....not to mention totally not 3 AM friendly if you are working a problem.
The worst offender for me is NCM where I'll be comlaring a config line by line with terminal and with my finger on the last line look away and back and ah crap it reloaded. I find solace in a few views which do not refresh as most resource views- just click the top title of the resource to open it full screen and without refresh.
I convinced management to allow us to use Orion for our "metrics presentation" to the executives. But I can't because it refreshes many times in the middle of the presentation. All the data is there, but I still have to use a stupid excel graph... Time wasted and a bit embarrassing...
for that meeting you change your refresh rate to something much less often.....just remember to set it back after the matter.
Wow, just built new maps but everyone HATES them because the page keeps refreshing while they are troubleshooting....
I would expect the refresh useful to tell you the status though the same, has been recently updated for your viewing pleasure.
yes, I think it would be nice to have the option to specify only select resources, or select resources on certain pages, to auto-refresh, or to be excluded from auto-refresh.
That is a good idea but personally I have over 30 people using Orion with many of them remote. I give access to most everyone in IT (over 200) so a local tool will only help so much. We need Orion to scale for enterprises. I need to have very low refresh for display screens in the executive area, fast refresh in the NOC area, medium refresh in the plants etc....
Need this times 1000
once again we need HTML5 to address the refresh issue
imagine Google maps without HTML5?
anyone recall old versions of MapQuest?
Just had a meeting with my manager, his manager, and her manager the CTO. While we are looking at things it refreshes.... CTO lays out some choice words at the screen... 2 minutes later it happens again..... choice words are louder and he says fix this and we can talk then....
my only solution is to change the refresh rate for everyone. Which means all our displays become static... unacceptable....
We need this desperately....
I would also like the ability to "freeze" the current screen while trouble shooting...
it truly bites when the screen refreshes while you are working on something....or presenting something.

familyofcrowes Created this feature request on Jun 25, 2012 9:00 AM
3 years & 2 months is a long time to have not done anything about this request, SolarWinds.
Maybe, if each of us visit and bump this page 15+ times a day, we can keep this page on the main/welcome Thwack page.
I think this feature request is a very solid BASIC/STANDARD feature, that should have been included from the start, but seems as if it was overlooked.
This is obviously an important feature/function to have, so let's see how long Thwack Nation can keep it on the front page.

A Zero (0) setting would be a nice option to create a static page that you can keep up and use F5 for...
Why can't I choose between having an updated page (1min refresh) or being able to spend 5-10 minutes on a single page checking charts and tables for troubleshooting? It gets really annoying when you have to race against time to do your troubleshooting before a page refreshes.
I feel the need for everyone to explore various views for reporting, monitoring, NOC, meetings, side-bars, and random conversations.... and if you want, different departments to see a few green dots to get them off your back too - make them a view.
Then come vote this option up so you can adjust each Groups/Views refresh rate to match accordingly to your needs!
Or just vote this up so you can randomly change other groups refresh times to keep that phone ringing.... eh, at least you'll look busy.
Morning bump for a 1-up!!
Agreed, I find it embarrassing when I teach a manager to pull the data he needs only to get frustated by the refresh.
testify!
I came back to check if this was implemented.... why not?
I heard implemented... oh.. never mind... I see what just happened...
HEEEYY YOOOUUUUU GUUUUYYYYYYYYSSS!!!!
IT'S WORKING...
Keep it up!
Just Grand! I'm going to create new accounts with new emails to vote up.... politicians do it all the time
Morning Bump !!
Let the records show, we are currently at 89 votes.
+1 now
Looks like we are at 90 now...
Nice... was drilling down into my node structure in Orion... and then it refreshed. So I logged in here to update.
Last week I was using Orion to monitor a broadcast storm on a switch, so I was removing interfaces from a chart one-by-one in order to get a better view at the problem. I have to take screenshots and use Paint to look at the data for any length of time (if I can get all the interfaces disabled before the page refreshes).
Well, although I would actually consider it a bad thing, at least it is nice to know others do this too...
Also, since nickzourdos already took care of the early morning thread bump, this shall be the regular morning thread bump...
Oh man... still stuck at 90 votes... Perhaps this mid-morning thread bump will help us acquire a new up vote...
And, just like that, KMSigma answers the call, and breaks our 3 day voting stand still, bumping us up to 91!!
Hey - if it's good enough for familyofcrowes, it's good enough for me.
Though I'm wondering the best way to handle this (from a structuring standpoint). I'm thinking that it should be bound to the NetObjectID and not the View ID (so that if you use choose a rapid refresh on your data center router which uses the default Node Details view, a different router using the same view wouldn't need to refresh quite as quickly).
Crazy thought: what about putting these into a NOC view which auto-refreshes based on your definitions? Just me stirring the pot!
92... we got another one!!
Slowly...Reelin' them in
And, here is the "Still at 92 votes" thread bump of the day...
There we go, now we're makin bacon...
asonberg give us #93, and Manilyn Ramos gets us to #94... just like that, and we're back in business...
This announcement has been brought to you by the letter "R", the number "95", and today's afternoon thread bump...
