There might be several use-cases for this type of feature.
- I need to send a file to someone internally within my organization typically behind the firewall. That person most likely doesn't have access to Serv-U nor do I want them to necessarily have access to Serv-U. I'd like to email them with a link that allows them to download the file from the file server without interacting with the Serv-U interface.

Partner most likely doesn't have access to Serv-U nor do I want them to necessarily have access to Serv-U. - I need to be able to send an email to someone externally. It might be a partner or 3rd party vendor outside my organization and outside the firewall. with a link that allows them to upload files to Serv-U. This person shouldn't have access to anything else on the Serv-U server other than the ability to upload files via the link I send them.
For all use-cases links could be temporary so that the account wouldn't persist for that user after he's downloaded the file. This feature could also include expiration dates, deleting linked data or protecting the data with a password.
