Feature Request - HTTP and HTTPS URL monitoring for page load in SAM

Good morning,

It would be a great feature to be able to do HTTP and HTTPS URL monitoring for a specific (or WC) URL in SAM. Not just 'up/down' but speed of page load. Also, being able to be alerted on if the page load is too long (ie. over 5 seconds - alert via email, etc.). Currently in SAM, you can create an HTTP or HTTPS monitor, but you have to assign this to some 'node'. My request is to allow this to test against ANY URL (internal or external) and monitor the 'get' (page load). This would be helpful for company home pages, testing external websites, etc.

Additionally, if certain values in the return data could be checked to make sure that the response is valid. I.e., you may get a page response from a server (other than 400), and it would appear to be "up," but since the database back-end is having issues, the data on the page is bad. So, if you know a good response will always have the word "SolarWindsRocks" in it, as it is a value in a database row, then you would check for that value also for the alert to function properly.

a. is the page even responding?

b. is it responding in a timely fashion (compare to average, or compare to value)

c. is the data you are looking for valid on the page

This is already possible today using the "External" node type. That is the primary reason why the "External" node type exists. For additional functionality however you may want to consider using Web Performance Monitor (WPM) instead.
