One of the great pieces of Storage Manager (Profiler) is that it supports remote agents. The two largest benefits for us are 1) It keeps chatter and latency down across the WAN, especially since we are monitoring a few hundred remote sites from a single central location. 2) It allows us to proxy into storage (at remote sites) that has no access to the public network and would otherwise be inaccessible.
I am requesting a similar agent capability for SRM. Many of our storage arrays either have no public facing management interface for polling or must be isolated due to security concerns. If I can no longer reach them once I transfer from STM to SRM, then I will be forced to drop the product and find an alternate solution.
