More options surrounding managing configs

We currently back up a large number of devices on a nightly basis. After a month or so, this creates a lot of config files and consumes a fair bit of storage.

Currently I have a scheduled job to purge all but the most recent 30 days worth of configs.

This is all fine and good except I get the occasional request to look at a config from several months back.

It would be nice to have the ability to archive configs say every week, every month and/or every year. That way we could check a config that was in use a number of months back.

The idea being that you could have daily configs for a month or so, weekly configs up to a year and perhaps month configs beyond that.

If there is already a way to do this please advise.

There is an option in NCM to backup only changed configs.

That way you are not saving the same config daily.

If a config changes on a device 6 times in one month, then you will only have six configs saved in 6 dated directories for that month.

Or alternatively only backup once a week and turn on Realtime Change Detection so that it backs up the config each time a change is made. And set to purge once every 6 months.
