I dabble a bit on SQL scripting, but would lie to you if I called myself an expert -- far from it.
Anyway, I would love tsee SQL the code behind that grabs data from the DB for awesome views found in most SW pages. That would help people like myself to create Orion views and reports that are similar to those. Of course, I know I can go to the DB directly and try to figure out which table & column the data was taken from. However, this gets a bit trickier with some SW charts, which seem to be based on calculations or formulas made against the data. This might also help those who are new to SQL scripts to learn from the best source, the great SW developers. So, the way I envision this as follows:
- Access a view for any section (i.e. Percent Utilization - Line Chart from the Interface Details page)
- Click on the Edit button for the chosen section
- Click on Show SQL code button
- Click on Save SQL code to CSV or HTML format (optional)
That is all. Of course, given that I am also not a programmer, I do not know about the challenges behind this request. Still, after all that I've seen in SolarWinds/Orion, I trust that the SW developers can easily make this happen. So, I would appreciate your vote for this suggestion. Have a great day, fellow Thwackers!!!
