Offline Installer For Agents and Plugins

We use several modules within SW to monitor our environment, and a lot of our estate is on offshore drilling units which utilize high latency, low bandwidth VSAT connections (1mbit, ~700ms latency)

When pushing out agents over those slow links, its ~100-200 mb for the agent and associated plugins which each server needs to download individually as it is transferred over secure connection and cannot be optimized with WAN optimization.

I think an offline installer with the agent and all more importantly all of the plugins would be welcomed by those monitoring nodes over similar links and wish ti take advantage of the Agent given it is meant to reduce the amount of bandwidth it takes to send data back to the main Orion server.

The Agent plugins themselves are actually relatively small, ranging from a few kilobytes to a few megabytes in size. Many of those plugins though have a dependency on Microsoft's .NET Framework, which by comparison is rather large. The good news is that the Agents only download the .NET Framework from the Orion server if it's needed. E.G. plugins deployed require its usage and the .NET Framework is missing from the machine where the Agent is deployed. If you want to reduce the size and duration of the Agent download, you could install the .NET Framework 4.5.1 or later on those systems ahead of installing the Agent.

This would still be a great addition to the product. I realize this is an old thread but I have encountered issues where the connection is just enough to handle agent traffic and that's it. .NET and all pre-reqs are there. The agent is installed, I've even followed the instructions at the following link with some success.

It gets most of the plugins installed, however 4 still have to be downloaded (core, VIM, etc.)

I'm working on a way to perform this and build an offline installer package via powershell, some guidance or adding this into the product as an option would be wonderful.
