This request is aimed at ISP/Telco/CLEC level shops that utilize SolarWinds and want to start seeing native support on Class 5 Telco Switches, SoftSwitch interfacing platforms (Asterisk and it's Flavors, BroadSoft), and the many SBC's we see in production today (mainly ACME).
With VoIP quickly picking up steam and becoming the product of choice for many Enterprise businesses, and even now Home Users I think it's time that SolarWinds started to dip into this realm a little deeper on the NPM side, and support these specific Carrier Grade pieces of Equipment. At many Telcos/CLECs/ISPs we are delivering IAS services (Integrated Access Services) using these technologies. These services are talking to Class 5 switches, Subscriber softswitches, and SBC Gateway controllers, and having a central point of view to manage these systems and maintain metrics on them at a higher level would be nice as opposed to jumping into each system to pull simple reports and metrics.
I am thinking it would be great to be able to track registrations, denials, error term coding, hung sessions, spoofed devices, concurrent calls, total calls, services and features on BroadSoft and Asterisk. All without the need to dive into each system and correlate this data to get an overall look at your infrastructure.
I know SolarWinds has started diving at this market with their VNQM, but this is more of a configuration and SLA tool thats watching traffic and how it performs with a load and other types of data fighting for resources based on your QoS configuration, and overall network traffic... I'm looking for overall monitoring of these Systems and the Services they provide.
Chime in let me know what you think, and how you may want to see this feature implemented.
