IPAM Desktop Tool

IPAM needs a desktop application that can run in the task bar. The program will let you do a quick search for an IP or let you add a new address without having to use the webpage. The IPAM webpage and be tedious and slow at times when needing to do a quick IP search. It will be nice to be able to do this without launching the web page. Cisco has a similar program called User Tracking Utility that searches CiscoWorks database.

I you preffer WinForm application you may use our free tool - IP Address tracker, or Engineering Toolset. Our strategy is to provide you an integration with our other product in order to quickly solve more problems than just IP address management and monitoring (for example network utilization per given IP addres -netflow, information about port & user or VoIP related data if IP is a phone).

By common experience there would not be a significant difference between using winform app or web site. You may put IPAM search resource wherever you want and if your browser is already running (or if you have SSD hard drive) then open IPAM webpage and do a search is matter of a second.

We do not plan to have web based and winform application simultaneously or migrate IPAM to winform app.

That is disappointing that there will not be a desktop application that

will work in conjunction withe IPAM. Seems like a very useable feature.

Cisco has this setup with CiscoWorks and it seems simple enough to

create the program.

A searchbar application which sits on the windows taskbar would be killer. That's why we are still using Cisco LMS. Cisco UTU is the number one utility. But it doesn't support multivendor like solarwinds. If solarwinds implement such an utility that will be awesome!
