Several my customers have asked me that they want to identify:
"Which wireless client have connected Which access point on When (date/time)" .
The reason why they want this is because:
if they would find a security incident such as someone might copy any secret file from their file servers.
Once such the incident occurs, and they have already found the MAC address of the client PC and when the file was copied,
they can narrow down where the PC was connected to Which Access Point in order to seek who (person) might do it.
Currently NPM has "History Wireless Clients" view in the node detail screen of Wireless AP devices.
But the view ONLY provides the historical list of its clients for the SINGLE access point.
My customers want to see "historical list of its connected APs for any wireless client".
With such the report available, we can say for example:
- Client-1 have always connected to AP-1 for last 3 month
- But the client had connected to AP-2 ONLY ONCE within last 3 month, why he/she moved their ?
I attach an example of such report ( I wrote it manually. Not created by NPM. )
