With that information we should be able to create advanced Network MAP that includes, spanning tree topology, OSPF Areas, and BGP maps
You want NTM to collect CLI and SNMP credentials? Or use CLI and SNMP credentials to discover information?
this would not be for collection. You should be able to draw advanced topology maps for Spanning-Tree, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP by using show commands from CLI and SNMP.
Hi
I came across this post on NTM and had some questions. We are using a monitoring tool. It contains network autodiscovery and topology mapping. It performs discovery via SNMP. But the problem is that it does not detect neighbor devices correctly and hence does not plot the topology map correctly.
I read that NTM also performs discovery via SNMP and maps network topology. So how is it able to correctly plot the topology map? Does it apply on Layer-2 (switches) and Layer-3 (routers) both? Does it require CDP or LLDP to be enabled on the switches to discovery neighbor devices? What if CDP/LLDP is not enabled on the switches?
Thanks
NTM uses WMI, SNMP, and other discovery protocols. It queries MAC tables, ARP tables, route tables, and CDP/LLDP info if available and makes the best topology it can out of the combination of all of those.
