What does "Big Data" mean to you?

It's a simple question without a simple answer.

What does the phrase "Big Data" mean to you?

For some it means analytics. For others the phrase "data insights" comes to mind. And others might think about the "6 V's". It seems if I ask 27 different people I would get 27 different answers.

So I am looking to start a discussion around this topic here. I know what it means to me, but I'd like to know more about what it means to you. I'd like to know more about how we can help you overcome the challenges you face when it comes to Big Data.

"Big Data" to me is another mind-numbing marketing term someone created somewhere to make it sound like more than it is, just like "cloud." I remember a comment my English professor made when we were discussing technical communications (the facts) and ethics (sticking with the truth). He stated, "What is a trash man called these days? The answer is a Sanitation Engineer." The point is, no matter what you call something, it's still the same. "Big Data" or analytics, trash man or Sanitation Engineer...it's all garbage in, garbage out.
