ALLOW SETTING UP LOGICAL GROUPING UNDER A SUBNET AND MOVE/ADD IP ADDRESSES INTO THOSE LOGICAL GROUPS

We have a requiremnt to Split up some of our /24 subnet into areas so that some Default Firewall rules work.

Subnet 10.4.0.0/24

And so we want to break it up like this:-

10.4.0.1 – 10.4.0.64 - SQL servers
10.4.0.65 – 10.4.0.128 – Application Server
10.4.0.129 – 10.4.0.192 – web Servers
10.4.0.193 – 10.4.0.254 – Misc

We cant just create seperate Subnets because then the DHCP server integration will Barf, And we can "Pre-Tag" the IP address becuse you cant add Custom Fields to an Object that is Available.

So basically, the ability to Group IP address as well as Subnets would be a God send.

SQL filtered logical groups would be awesome in my opinion.

This would be a huge and welcome addition for our company! If we could pre-tag and even enforce roles/permissions via the web interface it would help significantly with enforcing proper use of the IP Schema. Different functional groups manage different parts of the subnet (part of the subnet is for DHCP, part is for local IT discretion, part for Enterprise servers such as Domain Controllers and SCCM, part for network devices, and etc). It would be fantastic to pre-define those logical ranges and even better if I could limit read/write access to the appropriate logins/groups.
