Keep 'Unknown' status for children when parent 'Unmanaged'

We operate an extensive telecom network covering a large geographical area. We use dependencies to suppress alerts on child nodes. We sometimes have a parent node go down where we know it will take several days to repair. We would like to be able to unmanage the parent to get it off of our NOC screens. But if the parent is unmanaged the children all revert to down. We go from one down node on our screens to twenty.

I agree, this is a major issue for us too. It would also be nice to add in a feature that allows to you change an outage to scheduled maintenance after the fact. Using the example above, if someone for got to put that down node into unmanaged mode it would be nice if they can alter the historical data so that when SLA availability reports are ran at a later time the outage will show as unmanaged and not count against the SLA.
