Populate IPAM Hostname From Monitored DNS Zones

It would be helpful if IPAM could populate hostnames based on information from monitored DNS zones. Sometimes it is not possible to perform DNS resolution for different domains using the DNS servers configured for the IPAM server. If the DNS zone information is already in the database, IPAM should be able to use this information to populate hostnames for addresses which it cannot resolve using it's local DNS server.

The idea of this request is that IPAM will try to resolve every IP address it discovers not only to the IPAM server OS configure DNS, but also to the rest of the DNS servers that are configured in IPAM.

Most organisations will have more then one DNS managing different IP ranges and names. What I do not understand is how come they have allowed to manage different DNS servers and zones but can only read from one (which is the OS configured DNS).

I just ran into this issue recently. We have a read-only stub zone for a separate domain in our main DNS. It has all the info needed in it for IPAM to populate hostname information, yet it does not *sigh* It would also help if IPAMs additional polling engine actually worked/did something, as we could get around it using that method...as we have an additional polling engine sitting in that domain.

I kindof assumed that the point of adding DNS servers and doing zone transfers to the IPAM system was that it would allow for this type of functionality...

If I open details for an address in IPAM, I can see the DNS record(s) in there with the correct hostname for the IP but... that does not transfer to the Hostname field of the IP address
