IPAM should allow network admins to implement "DNS self-service".
Server admins frequently request network admins to add/change/delete DNS host and alias (A and CNAME records). There are a group of subnets specifically allotted for this purpose.
We want to let them manage their DNS entries for just those subnets. Not create DNS zones, or be DNS admins, or change IPAM structures, just A and CNAMEs.
IPAM provides a great GUI. And IPAM 4.3.1 allows creating custom roles ... but it doesn't go far enough.
One might think that granting Power User status would in fact make someone a Power User. But alas, it is not so. They need to have full IPAM admin rights, or full Orion admin rights before they can create DNS records.
I opened case #957847 - "Adding DNS records" to specifically ask and to see if I missed anything, but nope, that's how it is ...
Seems like it could be a fairly easy thing to implement ... so please vote YES!
