Alert Acknowledge Request

For a future release we would like to see the ability to acknowledge alerts by other means besides the website. Ways we invision would include;

Responding to an SMS message from Orion.
responding to an email alert from Orion.

Also, we would like to see the ability to add comments when the alert was acknowledged via website.

I have this in two different requests. One for ack alert via SMS or email and second with the other thwack thread you posted on about putting notes in alerts.

this would be great for us as well.

the thought is that an engineer would get an alert, respond to it. The solarwinds server would poll a mailbox to look for emails, mark the alert acknowledged and put the person's email address in as who acknowledged it.

Is this at all possible with Solarwinds or just a pipe dream?

10.1 which is in RC now, we added the ability to ack an alert from an email.

It does an HTTP post back to Orion to ack it, so you must have access to the Orion server from the device

Can you share any roadmap information for these features?? We are looking to use SMS alerts that can be ackknowledged via and SMS reply. Adding comments to the acknowledgement would be and extra bonus.

Just replying to "bump" this on the list. Being able to acknowledge alerts via e-mail or SMS is HUGE for us. And I don't mean by accessing a URL from the e-mail, but by replying to the SMS/e-mail with either a code or a keyword. We have a 3G modem that send/accepts SMS messages and a gateway (Diafaan) that sends/accepts and even converts between SMS and e-mail. The only piece missing is Orion's ability to receive and post the acknowledgement. I too (like many others) have seen the post regarding the Python/Splunk solution but this is not a manageable solution for us as in-house scripted solutions are often neglected during staff turnover. Big Brother (from Quest) can do this....I would love Solarwinds to implement it as well!
