I would find it helpful if NPM could poll core and edge switches for VRRP and STP topology changes and provide an alert (visual and/or email alert).
This would aid in troubleshooting environments with heterogeneous switch deployments.
this is a great suggestion!

Definitely an important feature to add.
+1 excellent suggestion
I'd like this, but is it really possible?
When a Spanning Tree event occurs, when is it logged? After the event occurs. Which is possibly after the device is isolated by STP. And that could mean that the trap or syslog message cannot make it to NPM for alerting.
Similarly, if VRRP has certain problems, routes to NPM may be gone before the trap or syslog could be sent to NPM.
If you have a test lab, see what happens when you
Will you see in some--or all--cases, that the information doesn't make it to NPM if it has to pass through the Distribution or Core hardware to get to NPM?
There are pertinent information that could be polled (if supported by the vendor) using VRRP-MIB: https://oidref.com/1.3.6.1.2.1.68
