Alert Notification when Application is in an unknown state

I thought being alerted when an application was in an "Unknown" state was going to be fixed in APM 2.0? It's likely a coincidence, but since upgrading to Orion 9.1 I'm being bombarded with notifications of applications being "down" when in fact they're simply in an unknown state. I'm really not sure why these applications are in an unknown state, but it's happening sporadically, so at times we're being notified that 10+ applications are all of a sudden "down" when this clearly isn't the case.

Back to my complaint. Why am I being alerted that an application is down, when it's in an "unknown" state? My Alert definitions are clearly defined only to notify me when an application is "Down". It's not configured to notify me when an application is not "up" so I'm not sure why I'm being notified. Can anyone at Solarwinds offer an explanation?

APM 2.0 was fixed to to show application in a down state only when we've been able to verify they are down. I'm not aware that we have places that don't follow this model. If we do, that would be a bug. What is the error message APM show's for the down components?

If you can't catch it when those are reported as down, then we'll need to look at the diagnostics - we'd need the diagnostics and the specific component monitor that was down (and for what node). We'd also need to time that it was down.

If we can get that error message we can see what the issue is.

Hi,

Have 9.1 installed with APM2 and since V9.1 was installed the application performance randomly goes down. Monitoring around 85 different applications and some all of them go down without warning and then come back after 10-15mins.

Also can see the JobEngineSvc services restarting itself constantly, with each time this occurs we also get a ASP.NET 2.0 error

It does not matter if it's WMI or SNMP I get the exact same message. Scheduler error. No suitable job engine available for job execution.
