Currently only a subset of component monitor are available through the agent.
Monitor with Orion agents in SAM
With nodes running with agent initiated communication, only those features become available.
I was really pleased when NetPath was added as a plugin to the SAM agent: we can use it!
QOE is done by the agent.
Same idea to add additional capabilities to the SAM agent as plugins.
Same idea to add all ORION functionality through SAM agents (NPM, LEM, VMAN and so on...)
Missing items:
Queries SNMP, APIs, running scripts, Log keyword checking, Registry queries and so on...
Architecturewise. ideally SAM as well as NPM, VMan, LEM would all rely 100% on agents to traverse firewalls outbound without opening ports inbound. One agent per machine (all machine would have local firewalls turmed on, with nothing opened inbound)
The concept of relay or collector could be added also to manage and collect data from the agents, and relay that to the main pollers.
